ECK Light and Sound Service: Looking for Inner Peace?
December 3, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
You and your friends are warmly invited to join us
“He must yield himself, the inner self, to the one divine ECK (Holy Spirit).
Peace and well being then enters into his human experience of life.”
-Harold Klemp, Wisdom of the Heart, Book 3, p.77
The ECK Light and Sound Service begins with an introduction to the day’s spiritual topic. This may include a brief talk by the ECK cleric leading the service, a guest speaker, or a panel.
A reading drawn from the written works of Eckankar is always presented. The reading is followed by a HU Chant and a period of silent contemplation.
HU is an ancient name for God. It is pronounced “hue” and is sung in a long, drawn out way – Huuuuuuuuuuu. HU opens the singer’s heart to the heart of God and helps open the singer’s spiritual eyes and ears to the presence of Holy Spirit, both within and in everyday life. The HU Chant is followed by a silent contemplation to engage Holy Spirit in the secret chambers of your heart.
An open discussion on the day’s topic follows the contemplation. The focus is on sharing with each other our personal experiences of Holy Spirit at work in our lives. This spiritual discussion helps everyone gain a deeper insight through sharing the knowing that comes with direct experience. “Holy Spirit” is known in the teachings of Eckankar as “the ECK,” “the Light and Sound of God,” or “the Voice of God.
Sometimes a musical performance or a song is included in the service, and attendees may also be invited to sing a song an ECK, and usually songsheets are provided.
Light refreshments are served after the service.
