ECK Light and Sound Service: Love’s Golden Thread

December 10, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

“Most people don’t know that life connects. They don’t realize that the events in their lives are diamonds and invisible lines run between them in every possible direction and combination of points. To be happy, we must take the initiative to connect these points that bring love and goodness to us.”

– Harold Klemp, The Living Word, Book 2, p.29

The ECK Light and Sound Service begins with an introduction to the day’s spiritual topic. This may include a brief talk by the ECK cleric leading the service, a guest speaker, or a panel. Sometimes a musical performance or a song is included.

A reading drawn from the written works of Eckankar is always presented. The reading is followed by a HU Chant and a period of silent contemplation.

HU is an ancient name for God. It is pronounced “hue” and is sung in a long, drawn out way – Huuuuuuuuuuu. HU opens the singer’s heart to the heart of God and helps open the singer’s spiritual eyes and ears to the presence of Holy Spirit, both within and in everyday life. The HU Chant is followed by a silent contemplation to engage Holy Spirit in the secret chambers of your heart.

An open discussion on the day’s topic follows the contemplation. The focus is on sharing with each other our personal experiences of Holy Spirit at work in our lives. This spiritual discussion helps everyone gain a deeper insight through sharing the knowing that comes with direct experience. “Holy Spirit” is known in the teachings of Eckankar as “the ECK,” “the Light and Sound of God,” or “the Voice of God

Help yourself to light refreshments available after the service.
